This conference was held in Taipei, Taiwan and organized by the National Center for Research of Earthquake Engineering (NCREE), the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction (NCDR) and the Taiwan Earthquake Research Center (TEC). This conference addressed the issue of Sustainable and Seismic-Safe Society to learn from the past and to look forward to having a more seismic-safe society.

This course integrates information from various engineering and scientific disciplines in order to provide a rational basis for the design of earthquake-resistant structures. As such, the course touches upon pertinent information from engineering seismology, geotechnical engineering, and risk reliability, in addition to advanced topics related to the dynamics and the analysis and design of structures.

The conference covers a variety of topics related to recent advances in structural design of tall and special buildings. Unique case studies of recent projects were presented, followed by sessions on seismic retrofit of structures, new methods and procedures, design ground motions, and resilient design and structural health monitoring.
